3 Secrets That Increased My Energy Exponentially

As a founder, the consequences can be painful.
The entrepreneurs, creatives and leaders I work with often speak about how a lack of energy stopped them:
- Asking for what they truly want in important conversations
- Starting that meaningful work project
- Being fully present with the ones they love
I remember years ago, before I learnt the secrets of the mind, my energy was erratic and the consequences weren't pretty - patient complaints, conflicts at work and missed deadlines.

Daniel Siegel, mind science pioneer and UCLA Professor of Psychiatry, defines energy as…
“The capacity to carry out an action.”
And information as…
“Anything that symbolises anything other than itself.”
So in this week’s blog, let me share with you some information that has the ability to influence your energy exponentially.
Your energy is directly linked to your accomplishments.
Therefore, when you embody these three simple secrets, expect to see profound yet subtle shifts in:
- Your peace of mind, because you will stop worrying and start acting
- The way you perceive time, because you will enter into flow states
- Your health, because you are now being proactive over reactive
Since I have adopted these secrets (this is only the tip of the iceberg), I’ve seen dramatic differences in my level of consistent, meaningful and peaceful accomplishment.
I’ve had a creative output that surprises me, as I was never a 'consistent' kind of guy. I’ve written 100k words, made 100 blogs, coached for 1000 person hours, all whilst picking my son up from school at 3pm every day.

Here are the three secrets:
1. Deep Compassion Meditation
Over the years, I’ve tried mindfulness, loving kindness meditations and the Silva method. All have been helpful, but the ancient Himalayan-based technique I learnt, called the Delve Deep Method, has seriously shifted my energy.
Prior to the technique, I would still be prone to energetic afternoon dips but now, 20 minutes of meditating on a mantra with a vibrational quality resets my energy by helping me release from thoughts that drain me.
I add a compassionate visualisation onto the end of this meditation.
This is where I visualise sending love to people I love - this always boosts my energy and is like magic for the soul. From a neuroscience perspective compassion meditations activate the joy centres and what could be more energising than joy?
2. Appreciation Narrative
Your mind has the ability to become addicted to criticisms, complaints and comparisons - appreciation is the antidote. It can be challenging to appreciate in a forced way in the middle of the day, especially if you are going through struggles.
This is why I’ve learnt to start my day with a narrative of appreciation - it connects me to my true essence and brings a sense of awe and wonder to my day.
I can always take inspiration from my 2 year old daughter Millie who approaches novel things with her favourite phrase of “Ooooo!"
Try starting your day noticing what you can appreciate over what you have to do or what’s missing. Watch the magic happen.
3. Morning Light
To balance your circadian clock, improve your mood and regulate your hormones throughout the day, walk outside in the morning, ideally within the first hour of waking.
Simple, yet how many of us engage with this practice? I personally can feel the difference if I don't. It makes intuitive sense to expose ourselves to light and, never forget, the most life-giving form of energy is the sun!
Create routines to engage in morning light - it is essential for your energy throughout the day as light in the morning even affects the timing of the release of hormones (like melatonin) at night!
