A Sage's View on Financial Security
Apr 18, 2023Once upon a time, a young man approached a wise old sage seeking advice on how to attain financial security. The sage looked at him intently and said, "You cannot build a fortress of gold to protect yourself from the world's uncertainties. It's like building a sandcastle at the shore - the waves will eventually wash it away."
The young man was perplexed, "If not gold, then what?"
The sage replied, "The true treasure lies in your ability to serve others. When you sow the seeds of kindness, compassion and generosity, you cultivate a garden of abundance that will always flourish, even in the harshest of conditions."
The young man left feeling both inspired and conflicted. He had always believed that money was the key to a secure future. But the sage's words had planted a seed of doubt in his mind.
Days turned into weeks, and the young man started to implement the sage's teachings. He shared his talents and skills with those around him, without any expectation of return. And slowly but surely, he started to reap the rewards of his labour. People appreciated his work and wanted to support him, and he found himself surrounded by a community that cared for him deeply.
In the end, the young man realised that true financial security lies not in the number in your bank account, but in your ability to create meaningful connections with those around you. It's like a tree with deep roots that can withstand any storm, providing shelter and nourishment to all who seek refuge beneath its branches.

After reviewing over 50 client forms, financial security was in the top 3 challenges that people were facing.
I remember one client with millions in the bank who was concerned with their finances. Another client with millions in inherited money spoke in the same way and in the group coaching I heard the same thread.
We have all worried about money at some stage but there are a select few people who don't feel insecure about money.
I started to learn from them and understand how they thought. For them, it had nothing to do with the money in their bank.
It had to do with service.
I'm not a financial coach, nor do I claim to be one. However, I am always fascinated by the transformations I see in my clients when they tap into their true selves.
Financial worries tend to leave them.
Why?
Because they are less reactive to the ebbs and flows of life and instead they focus solely on elevating their own service. This is why I notice significant revenue increases in my long term clients.

Here are 10 tips to elevate your service and hence your financial security:
1. Find role models
2. Follow their learnings to the root
3. Pay attention to their skills
4. Schedule the learnings of those skills
5. Focus on your hours of deep work over your results
6. Track your progress and celebrate your own milestones (not other peoples)
7. Get a coach to help you see what you cannot see
8. Weave in your personal experience
9. Fuse two or three disciplines together to create uniqueness
10. Be prepared to say no to mediocre opportunities
If this resonated, share it with a friend.
